What type of country music you play, for me personally, depends on the season. For example, Florida Georgia Line, perfect for the summer. Summer can also be Kenny Chesney, some Morgan Wallen songs, and some Zac Brown Band songs.
But, with weather starting to turn over, well at least in the great state of New Jersey, it’s time to adjust the music. I’m talking heavily on Zach Bryan, Noah Kahan, and maybe the best of them all, Dylan Gossett.
Speaking of Dylan Gossett, Gossett announced a new album titled Ramblin’ set to hit the virtual shelves on September 25th.
Gossett has already released two new songs for the album, Loving You Like That and Honeysuckle.
Gossett, in pretty much all of his tracks, is heavy on love songs with either a quick tempo or a very slow one. Gossett has also stayed true to his authentic sound which is heavy on raw acoustics and raw, Texas twang vocals.
Honeysuckle and Loving You Like That have both contained that quick tempo which I personally love in a country song, but I’m also one to settle down too.
But with the new song, Clothesline, released on August 28th, its a quick-ish tempo, with a strong presence of a kickdrum.
Unlike Honeysuckle, this song is a heartbreaker.
With lyrics like, ‘Don’t call me later when my light’s off I know just how you do. Call me once you be at my door later. And in the mornin’ you’ll be gone too soon.’
Gossett in this relationship he is singing about, feels like he is carrying the load and the other partner keeps on leaving him hanging, on a clothesline perchance.
The short three minute and some change song is a catchy one and will slot in effortlessly with the rest of Gossett’s discography.
Most of Gossett’s songs, since he releases them in small batches, are very well-crafted and easy to raise the volume on. And with the cold weather settling in and the leaves starting to change and fall, I cannot wait to zone out and listen to all the new songs coming out in September in my favorite flannel.
