Dexter & The Moonrocks Team Up with Treaty Oak Revival in New Single ’12 Steps’

Dexter & The Moonrocks are absolutely on a tear right now, and it finally feels like the rest of the world is catching up to what fans have known for a while. The Texas group has built a sound that feels massive without losing the grit and personality that made people gravitate toward them in the first place. Every release seems to push them even further into the spotlight, and honestly, it’s deserved. They’ve carved out a lane entirely their own, and 12 Steps is another reminder of why they’re becoming one of the most talked-about bands in the scene.

Seeing Dexter & The Moonrocks team up with Treaty Oak Revival feels less like a surprise collaboration and more like something that was destined to happen eventually. These are two bands that naturally exist in the same orbit stylistically and culturally, so hearing them together just makes sense. What’s impressive about 12 Steps is that it never feels like one band featuring on the other’s track – it genuinely sounds like two groups blending together into one cohesive force. The chemistry is undeniable from start to finish.

The songwriting on 12 Steps is one of the biggest strengths of the track. The themes and subject matter fit both bands perfectly, matching the rough-around-the-edges honesty and atmosphere they each bring to their music. Sonically, the song is incredibly satisfying too, balancing emotion, heaviness, and melody in a way that sticks with you long after it ends. It has that same kind of replay value that helped Freakin’ Out resonate so heavily with listeners, and it’s easy to imagine this track taking off in a similar way.

The band sounds locked in throughout the entire song, with the instrumentation feeling tight and purposeful from top to bottom. James Tuffs and Sam Canty both deliver standout vocal performances, bringing the exact kind of intensity and character this track calls for. The production hits the sweet spot as well – polished enough to feel huge, but still raw enough to preserve the identity of both bands. 12 Steps is another fantastic addition to the Dexter & The Moonrocks catalog, and it’s exciting to think about just how far both these bands can still go from here.
