Cody Johnson Drops ‘Fool Proof’ Featuring Brothers Osborne

In anticipation for his new album, Banks Of The Trinity, set to release on June 26, Cody Johnson has released a new single, Fool Proof, featuring Brothers Osborne.

Brothers Osborne, who was featured on the track, made their first appearance on a song since February of this year when they released the 10 year anniversary edition of their album, Pawn Shop.
Fool Proof has the traditional CoJo sound to it as the song features a fiddle and a kick drum, while also featuring John Osborne’s sick guitar picking.

TJ Osborne’s background vocals are sweet as he uses his signature deep voice to back up Cojo’s velvetting singing.

The song contains a lot of fun plays on words as one that sticks out to me is, “It’s like it sees me comin’, and pours itself into. A man who’s down to nothin’, feelin’ Johnny Walkеr Blue.”

Another play on words that was clever was, “She says I ain’t got a shot, but I’m sittin’ here with two. I can’t stop falling off the top of good ole Mountain Dew.”

A bunch of Cody’s more recent singles have been breakup and misfortune themes. Like in Blame Texas and Footlights. I’m wondering if that’s what Cody is going for in his new album coming up next month.

Digging back in Fool Proof, the song also contains a dope, but short guitar solo from John Osborne. The song itself is very short as it is only 2:36 long and contains one verse each from CoJo and TJ, but the song definitely serves as one more on the fun side and it’s catchy.

With a song like this and another collaborator like Luke Combs set to make an appearance, this album should be a go-to listen this summer.
