Emily Woodhull Turns Up the Heat with ‘Runnin’ With The Devil’

Emily Woodhull’s new single Runnin’ With The Devil is a strong showing from an artist who continues to sharpen her craft with every release. From the jump, the song grabs your attention with a fantastic melody and a tempo that keeps everything moving naturally without ever feeling rushed. The structure is tight and well thought out, allowing each section to build off the last in a way that keeps listeners locked in all the way through. It’s the kind of track that feels instantly familiar while still bringing enough personality to stand out on its own.

One of the biggest strengths of the song is Woodhull’s songwriting. Runnin’ With The Devil does an excellent job of painting vivid pictures through its lyrics, pulling listeners directly into the emotion and atmosphere of the story she’s telling. There’s a cinematic quality to the way she delivers certain lines, making it easy to visualize every moment as the track unfolds. That ability to create imagery through songwriting is something that separates strong artists from memorable ones, and Woodhull shows she’s firmly moving in that direction.

Here’s what Emily had to say about the release:

Runnin’ With The Devil is a song I’ve been wanting to release since I wrote it with Rob Crosby and Rose Falcon back in 2023. It’s basically about someone’s boyfriend making all the wrong decisions, and her telling him ‘if you keep doing all the wrong things, me and you aren’t gonna last.’ I’m so excited that it’s finally coming out”.

The production also deserves a lot of credit here. Everything feels balanced in a way that supports the song instead of overpowering it. The instrumentation complements Woodhull’s vocal performance perfectly, giving the track a polished but still authentic feel. Nothing feels overdone, and that restraint allows the melody and storytelling to remain the focal points throughout the song. It’s a production style that works very well for the kind of atmosphere the track is aiming for.

If Runnin’ With The Devil is any indication of what Emily Woodhull has planned moving forward, listeners should be paying close attention. This single feels like another confident step forward and hints at even bigger things on the horizon. Between the songwriting, the memorable melody, and the strong overall presentation, Woodhull is building something that could turn into a very exciting run in the near future.
