ERNEST releases soothing new single, ‘Deep Blue’

On March 27, ERNEST released Deep Blue, the title track for his upcoming album releasing on May 1. For this album, it seems as if ERNEST is taking a different approach in comparison to the rest of his discography.

Through the first three songs that he released, a common theme of boating, water and heartbreak can be found.

In Lorelei, a beautiful song about a past lover, ERNEST sings, “You wrecked my world, and I don’t know why. I keep my sails in the wind for you, Lorelei.”

The song flows really well, and the other song that ERNEST released titled Boat Named After You, the title speaks for itself.

So, in Deep Blue, the song follows right along with the theme of the previous songs released off the album.

Deep Blue begins with a fiddle which kickstarts the song much differently than the previous releases.

But, just because it starts upbeat, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the theme is going to be fun. We soon realize as the song keeps rolling, that ERNEST is singing of heartbreak, just like in Lorelei.

In the main chorus, “Cause I need you, but life isn’t fair. Out in the deep blue, I’m fighting for air. Between two more smokes, a few more drinks. I’ll be telling a stranger what I really think.”

ERNEST, known as one of the more pristine song writers in the industry, put his writing skills on full display during this one.

“Don’t throw no float, I’ll ride these waves. Yeah, you always wanted me to drown anyways,” is another genius line in this song.

The song really flows well and it has the guitar solo that I always love with hints of a beachy-like tone.

So, with all that being said, the May 1 release of the album, Deep Blue, is going to be a huge hit just in time for the summer. Songs like Deep Blue and Lorelei, and whatever else ERNEST throws on the album will be best served with salty air and a cold Corona, or seven.
