Country in the Blood: Meet Both The Reeves and Kruse Brothers

All throughout country music, we have seen duos be very memorable. From Brooks & Dunn, Florida Georgia Line, and Sugarland, duos have been collecting award after award and have had their fair share of success.

Now, duos can also be born and share the same blood. Take, for example, Brothers Osborne. TJ and John Osborne have been one of the more prominent duos in the industry for the past 10 years. But, there could be two different sets of brothers making their way to the top. Meet both The Reeves Brothers and The Kruse Brothers.

The Reeves Brothers

To the west of Nashville, Tennessee, is the small town of Pahrump, Nevada, where Matt and Cole Reeves got their start. Growing up around country music, it was inevitable that the two brothers would pursue music as a career.

The sound of country music comes in various shapes and sizes, or in this specific case, just sounds. Some people like the more modern sound, but others prefer the original or traditional sound of a steel guitar. And if you are one of those people, The Reeves Brothers are perfect for you.

So far in 2026, The Reeves Brothers have released two singles, All It Takes Is You and Drinkin’ Again. The duo, although it hasn’t released a studio album since 2020, is still garnering a good amount of monthly listeners and TikTok followers.

Breaking down the two singles, they are certified two-stepping jams. Drinkin’ Again is more about a past relationship that didn’t go quite right.

The instrumentals are stellar, especially the steel guitar. Also, the lyrics are very clever. My favorite being, “Took my love back on the street, misery loves company so, I’ll see you around.”

All It Takes Is You takes a different turn and brothers sing a song of a healthy relationship. It is more upbeat and it’s easy to dance to. This song is stuck to the roots of traditional country and fits right into the rest of The Reeves Brothers’ catalog.

Outside of their two newest singles, my personal favorite song from the two is I Need A Bar. Released in October of 2025, the song speaks to everyone that just wants to escape to the neon lights and have a cold one, or five.

Once again, the steel guitar in this song is excellent and it transports anyone back in time.

With The Reeves Brothers releasing two singles this year already, it makes me wonder if an album is on the way. If the album does in fact come, I will be sat in my chair, with a glass of bourbon and a cowboy hat ready to be transported back in time.

The Kruse Brothers

The Kruse Brothers and The Reeves Brothers have many things in common. Both brothers, both bringing a different sound to the modern country scene, and both from the deserts of the southwest.

Shifting focus to The Kruse Brothers now, Chandler and Miles, grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and bring a very unique sound. Miles and Chandler were originally rooted in classical music, according to their website, but they also bring hints of blues and rock.

2026 is set to be a fruitful year for the duo as they recently released their first album titled, Heartbreak & Honky-Tonk. Among the 12 songs on the album, some of them have a slower tempo and the lyrics are deep. But, other songs like Honky Tonk Heaven, Tulsa County Jail, When A Cowboy Gets The Blues are more upbeat and groovy.

The Kruse Brothers debut album was a perfect way to introduce their sound. In some of the songs, the songs were carried by hand-picked lyrics, but in the others the instruments really carried.

Some of the songs that stuck out to me was White On The Ground. This song has garnered over 4 million plays on Spotify and is considered on the duo’s top songs. White On The Ground is one of the songs on the album that sounded different from the rest.

“Well I haven’t been home in a couple of years. The snow is a ransom for my younger years. Hell isn’t burning, it’s the chill of the night and it’s all frozen over and it’s covered in white,” is the last stanza of the song before the chorus hits one more time and it’s a great piece of writing.

Give it a try

Whether you like it or not, traditional country music is making its way to the forefront of the country music industry. Zach Top just won New Artist of the Year at the CMA’s and he also just won a Grammy for Best Traditional Album.

Jake Worthington is touring with Top, Charley Crockett was also up for a Grammy and more and more up and coming groups, like the Kruse and Reeves Brothers, are bringing that type of style back and I am all for it,

Take a page out of your grandfather’s book and give it a shot. And trust me, you will be two-stepping in no time.
