ERNEST Takes Us Out To Sea With ‘Deep Blue’ Release

After successful releases of Deep Blue, Lorelei, and a Boat Named After You, ERNEST has released his full Deep Blue album.

This album sounds absolutely stunning and it instantly transports the listener to a Caribbean island where pina coladas are flowing and palm trees are swaying in a warm breeze.

In previous albums, ERNEST sings of more common country music scenery as in red dirt, a back 40, or a truck, but in this concept album, ERNEST takes a trip with us and takes us to paradise, with some heartbreak.

Many songs in this album are perfectly crafted love songs like Waste A Day, What’s A Little Rain, Lucky.

But in some songs like the title track Deep Blue and Boat Named After You, there are hints of broken feelings.

Most of the songs are on the quieter and slower side of the album which is somewhat refreshing in today’s country scene where we often are used to more quicker and louder songs, hungry for catchy lyrics instead of beautiful and creative lyrics, like ERNEST.

This album makes me think a lot about Sturgill Simpson’s, A Sailor’s Guide To Earth in just that it sounds just calming and it feels like you are coasting on calm waves into the sunset.

I cannot stop with the imagery, I apologize.

Within the 13 songs, ERNEST partners up with Lukas Nelson, the son of Willie Nelson, on Time Is A Thief.

The first 30 seconds of the track contains a sick pickin’ of an acoustic guitar. Then ERNEST comes in and soon after, Nelson’s distinct voice comes through and delivers.

Looking over the whole album, many songs stand out to me that will be making it onto my personal playlist. Deep Blue was a lyrical masterpiece, Edge Of The U.S.A stood out to me as well.

This album will serve perfectly as something you might do some work to, listening to the fire crackle (more imagery, sorry) and of course, sitting on the water and gazing at the stars. Well done, ERNEST.
