Highway Home just put out their second single, and it’s already making noise. “Trash Out The Trailer” is a high-energy, fiddle-laced breakup song that leans into country humor without losing its edge. The song was released June 27 and has been a crowd favorite at their live shows long before it hit streaming.
The track was written by Conner Sweeny, McCoy Moore, and the late Sam Johnson (We miss you Sam). McCoy brought the idea in, and it instantly clicked for Conner, who spent time living in a trailer while working cattle in Montana. The hook flips a well-known phrase into something fresh. She took the trash out the trailer, but I’m still here. The lyrics are packed with punchlines, including a stolen Maytag and a cornhole trophy from 2008.
Janae Fleenor brings the fiddle. Eli Kirkpatrick layed down the Tele. The groove drives from start to finish. It sounds like something you’d hear on a tailgate playlist but still sharp enough to hit in a live room.
The band formed less than a year ago but the chemistry runs deep. Conner originally cut the song solo years back. Once the group came together, they brought it back to life with new harmonies from Eamon Owen and Stanton Langley. That’s been their blueprint so far. Take what works, build it together, and let the energy speak for itself.
They tested this one live early on and it landed fast. One standout moment came during a Raised Rowdy event at the Duck Blind when the band dropped out and let the crowd carry the last chorus. All claps and voices. Everyone locked in.
The trio first linked through Live Oak and Midtown rounds. They met playing solo gigs but realized they had something stronger as a unit. It started as a downtown shift at Valentine and turned into a group project that caught fire faster than expected.
“Trash Out The Trailer” hits the sweet spot between honky tonk throwback and 2000s-era country. The harmonies are tight. The writing’s clever without being corny. It’s fun but still feels real.
The Boys are set to join Graham Barham on a 20-date tour this fall, with stops in Toronto, Charlotte, Columbus, and a run through the Southeast and Midwest. Their next single, “Layover,” written with Corey Crowder, is dropping later this month. It’s a shift in tone but still locked into their harmony-first sound.
This is only their second release, but Highway Home already sounds like a band that knows exactly who they are. No fluff, no gimmicks. Just three voices, strong songs, and a sound that plays just as well live as it does in your truck.
