Austin Upchurch Stands Out in New Single, ‘Lyin”

We have pointed out before throughout our articles that the Texas scene has been leaning in on the rock and grunge sound. While that is awesome and welcomed by many fans, it can be hard to pick out bands or artists that may not have that Koe Wetzel or Treaty Oak Revival level of notoriety. If there is one person that we keep trying to push to new listeners who deserves more recognition, it’s Austin Upchurch.
Upchurch has a unique take on Texas rock, mixing pop, pop punk, grunge… pretty much anything under the sun. If there’s one thing we like to preach, music is more fun when you can’t put a label on it. On May 8th, Upchurch dropped his new single, Lyin’. The somber tone is pushed with the emotion in his voice, all while kicking the door down around mid-point with a booming rhythm section and spacey guitarwork. Along with the instrumental element and songwriting, production is top-tier and creates a fantastic aesthetic for the song.
Go ahead and give Lyin’ a listen, and while you’re at it, go back and check out any previous release from Austin Upchurch.
