Josh Meloy, one of Oklahoma’s most promising singer-songwriters in the alternative country scene, has been making quite a splash recently. His record, Where You Came From, which dropped in June, is a top contender for album of the year for many people without a doubt, so when he released No More on November 15th, pretty much everyone expected it to be fantastic. Well, it was.
No More is a stripped-back, emotional trip that captivates you with Meloy’s songwriting, which has themes of reflection, sorrow and relatability. The melody is acoustic driven in a folky way, and it perfectly sets the aesthetic for the somber tone. It was very cool to see Meloy’s songwriting and creative direction evolve over the past couple years to what it is now, and I finally think he has found his sound.
There’s no stopping Josh Meloy, especially if he keeps dropping heat like No More. Go do yourself a favor and give it a listen!
