Austin Meade is leaps and bounds ahead of his peers when it comes to experimentation and trying new things with his sound. Where a lot of musicians would go formulaic to a point where their releases get stale, he has been able to drop song after song keeping it consistently fresh, but still keeping his signature sound engrained in the foundation. Meade dropped his new song on November 1st called PRETTY LITTLE WAIST, and it’s killer.
In a Texas scene that is currently occupied by artists with immense talent, there is still a risk of oversaturation with the rock centric sound coming out of it. Meade stands out. PRETTY LITTLE WAIST is a great example for many reasons. The melodies that he crafts are always unique and interesting – the delivery, the hooks and the way they are strung together is always a treat. The heavy rock style isn’t anything new to Meade, as he has been diving into that genre since the release of his 2021 album, Black Sheep, but what he does with it and how he isn’t afraid to experiment and venture into other avenues within the typical “rock music” box is what keeps us coming back.
Meade, along with his guitarist and frequent songwriting partner, David Willie, have always had a knack for lyricism. He takes his writing very seriously, and it shows. The diction is always A-1, the phrasing is great, and double meanings are a recurring theme in his releases – example A being PRETTY LITTLE WAIST. Production is killer as always, this time thanks to Kile Odell. Everything mentioned here is a recipe for a fantastic tune, and PRETTY LITTLE WAIST is 100% just that.
