Tyler Halverson Drops New Single, “Nobody’s Everything”

Rising star Tyler Halverson released “Nobody’s Everything,” his latest single, last Friday via Atlantic Records. Co-written by Halverson, Meg McRee, and Jon Decious, the self-reflective tune marks his fourth month in a row with new music — and that’s after his critically acclaimed debut album, Western Amerijuana (Pt. 1), arrived back in April. The man can’t slow down!

In fact, that’s a point he makes in his new song: “to the road, I’m a runner,” a lyric which is followed by, “to her I wouldn’t write; to a guitar I’m a picker; to the pawn shop, I’m a ring,” and so on. “Nobody’s Everything” is packed with clever descriptions of himself from the perspective of different people, places, and forces in his life. Delivered atop an easygoing guitar/harmonica groove reminiscent of Willie Nelson, these one-liners add up to a poignant reflection on the many small things that make a person who they are.

And by laying out how Halverson is one thing to someone and another to someone else, the song also has a possible message that listeners shouldn’t get too hung up on being something we’re not, because ultimately it’s not in our control. As always, Halverson blends masterful songwriting with incredible musicianship. This is definitely one of the strongest country releases so far this fall. Give it a listen below, or hear him potentially play it live at one of his upcoming live shows (see those here).
