Award winning singer-songwriter, Dallas Moore, is releasing his upcoming album, Gems & Jams, on August 9th, and lucky for you guys, Raised Rowdy is bringing you an exclusive first look at the song Wastin’ Good Whiskey. If you aren’t familiar with Moore, he is someone who has been killing it for a long time now, releasing some truly tunes as one of the hardest working men in honky-tonk music.
On the topic of his upcoming album, Moore says, “Gems & Jams is my 18th album release, and it’s my first solo acoustic effort. Stripped down to the bare bones of just my voice and guitar, we recorded 15 original songs with no overdubs or post production. The track list features a mix of newly written tunes and a few deep catalog cuts that have been out of print and unavailable for a long time, some more than 20 years.”
While we eagerly wait for Gems & Jams to drop, we can give Wastin’ Good Whiskey a listen in the meantime.
“This song is what I like to call a ‘mighty fine love song’. Back in the mid ‘90s when I wrote this one,” Moore remembers, “we were running pretty hot and playing a lot of shows with David Allan Coe, Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard among others. Our live shows were loud and rowdy.”
“I think I was probably channeling ol’ Bocephus himself on this one and it was always one that packed the dance floors and got the crowd all fired up,” he goes on, “The version her on Gems & Jams is stripped down to just my voice and guitar and it just feels like it hits even harder. If that don’t light your fire, your wood is wet.”
Now, that’s the way to put it. Go ahead and have yourself a listen to the Raised Rowdy premiere of Dallas Moore’s Wastin’ Good Whiskey!
