Graycie York, a singer/songwriter out of Rockwall, Texas, has been really gaining traction in the Texas scene with her classic, traditional sound that still keeps it fresh and modern. She has been on a roll with releases as of late, which includes singles released this year including “Family Affair” and “Marlboro Magic.” Well, we’ve been blessed with yet another killer drop called “Fine & Dandy,” which was put out on September 28th.
Upon just the first listen, “Fine & Dandy” quite literally put me in a time machine to the country music of yesteryear. This is another example of how York manages to consistently release tunes that are reminiscent of the traditional style while maintaining her own modern take. When it comes to the songwriting, this is a simple, but very well-crafted love song. York’s songwriting and creative direction is maturing with every release, which is awesome to see.
The vocal performance is great as always, this performance being calm and gentle throughout. Aside from the highlights, the little details added in like the whistling section and beautiful guitar picking following that are the cherries on top. This is simply a fantastic tune and a great addition to York’s releases.
