Goodnight, Texas Break it Down Heavy with Kirk Hammett on New Song, ‘RUNAWAYS’

Goodnight, Texas is a very interesting group. You can call them bluegrass or folk, but in the same sentence you can classify them as a rock band. The best thing about it is that they absolutely kill it in each of those styles. Those unfamiliar with Goodnight, Texas may not know that they featured on The Metallica Blacklist, the 2021 compilation of Metallica covers massive in both big names and talent, with their take on “Of Wolf and Man.” Well, they have connected with none other than Metallica guitarist, Kirk Hammett, for their newest single, “RUNAWAYS.”

Goodnight, Texas’s two leaders, Avi Vinocur and Patrick Dyer Wolf, and the other talented members really put together a solid, heavy-hitting, swampy tune. “RUNAWAYS” brings out the best in the vocal performance consisting of a catchy melody that won’t leave your head for the rest of the day. The rhythm section is heavy and booming, cementing a firm foundation throughout the song. Then, of course, you have Hammett’s solo at the end that is undoubtedly classic Kirk.

If you would compile a list of underrated groups that deserve way more recognition, Goodnight, Texas is right up top. These guys are destined to blow up and take the scene by storm, so go ahead and give their past work a listen and hop on the train while you can! In the meantime, stream “RUNAWAYS” now!
