Matt Williams has been releasing some absolute heat lately out in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He is bringing a gritty, raw aspect to the typical Red Dirt scene along with peers in his class including Trenton Fletcher and Gannon Fremin & CCREV. Williams just dropped his newest rocker, “Allergic,” which further proves the point that the music coming from out west is becoming such a large melting pot that anyone can contribute to, no matter what style.
“Allergic” consists of a lot of high energy from start to finish. The heavy, pounding drums keep the melody chugging along with a wall of guitar that makes the instrumentals pop. Williams and his brother, Mason, mature with their songwriting with every release. The lyrical content is great, as is the vocal performance. The production is very clean and sleek, giving us the aesthetic of those rock songs of the 2000s that we all know and love. Not to mention, the mini breakdown at the end is the icing on the cake.
