Hear Vinnie Paolizzi’s Soulful New Single, “Left My Heart Behind (feat. Meg McRee)”

With every release, Nashville songwriter Vinnie Paolizzi continues to hone his craft. His latest offering, “Left My Heart Behind (feat. Meg McRee),” arrived on June 23rd and showcases his unique ability to pen witty yet contemplative love songs. In it, Paolizzi croons soulful lyrics imploring his ex-lover to return his heart — the only thing unresolved after an amicable split.

Sonically, “Left My Heart Behind” is a rollicking, piano-led track somewhat reminiscent of ‘70s-era power ballads (think songs from Jackson Browne’s eponymous album or Elton John’s Goodbye Yellow Brick Road). McRee contributes enchanting background vocals throughout.

Co-written by Paolizzi, McRee, and Nate Fredrick, the song follows Paolizzi’s previous single, “Proud of What I Did Today,” a similarly thought-provoking ballad. Both tracks signal a self-reflective era for the artist that dials in on his introspective side while preserving his characteristic blend of roots country and heartland rock sounds.

“Left My Heart Behind” is the definitive breakup song of the summer. Check it out below, and don’t sleep on Paolizzi’s other music, available on all streaming platforms. He’s also a credited writing collaborator of rising Nashville artists including Gabe Lee, Nate Fredrick, Chris Canterbury, and Bo Armstrong.
