Colton Venner Counts His Blessings in New Single, “Problems That We Prayed For”

Less than two months after releasing his shattering breakup ballad, “This Town, That Town,” Colton Venner has shifted gears with his new, uplifting single, “Problems That We Prayed For.” In the heartfelt track, which arrived June 9th, Venner gives thanks for domestic life and everything that comes with it — the good and the bad.

“It’s about looking at something you wanted for a long time and seeing the good in it, rather than the complaints,” Venner tells Raised Rowdy. “The idea of being grateful for something that you waited for really resonated with me.”

The song, which Venner wrote alongside Lauren McLamb and Andrew Peebles in fall 2021, features Venner’s resonant voice over spare production, accentuating the catchy melody and hook. Lyrically, Venner walks through the highs and lows of buying a house, having a child and sharing a life with someone, expressing gratitude every step of the way. As the singer’s third musical offering this year, it is one of his strongest releases yet, and definitely one of our favorites.

Recently named one of “25 Songwriters You Need to Know” by Nashville Briefing, Venner is gearing up for a string of shows in Texas, his native state, this fall. In the meantime, Nashvillians can catch him at The Listening Room on July 7th. Get your ticket here.
