Exclusive Premiere: Dustin Collins Delivers a Callback to ’90s Country with “When She Had Georgia on Her Mind”

With “When She Had Georgia on Her Mind,” Dustin Collins delivers a callback to the classic country sound of the ’90s. Written by Bo Allen, Eldon Huff and Larry Bastian, listeners can feel the heartache as Collins croons, “I know this is now and that was then, but if I could do it all again, I would. I’d go back to the time when she had Georgia on her mind.”

Collins shared, “I’ve been great friends with Eldon and Bo for years and have just exchanged music with them for so long. I was listening through all their files and had ‘Georgia’ on a playlist. I couldn’t get over how good it fit on this project. It just had that nostalgic sound that I’m really into.” Pre-save “When She Had Georgia on Her Mind,” available everywhere June 24, HERE.

“When She Had Georgia on Her Mind” is the second single from Collins’ upcoming album, Workin’ Man. “It’s more mature and relationship driven,” Collins said of the project. “It shows a different side of me and who I am. I’m much more than party songs or statement making anthems. I love sharing traditional story songs about my life. Everything that we’ve done on this record is a part of me somehow.”

Workin’ Man was produced by industry veterans Buddy Cannon (Willie Nelson, Reba McEntire) and Bill McDermott (Tim McGraw, Martina McBride). “It’s just professionalism at its best. Neither of those guys will let you fail yourself or the project,” Collins explained. With seven songs written by Collins, Workin’ Man also features songs written by CMA winner Brett Eldredge, Larry McCoy (Thomas Rhett), Sherrie Austin (Blake Shelton) and Will Rambeaux (Faith Hill).

Born in northern Georgia and raised in Bardstown, Kentucky, Collins’ dedication to his craft comes from the influence of his small town upbringing, referenced in the album’s title track and lead single. As a rising singer-songwriter, he paid his dues by performing at writer’s nights and any little dive bar he could book. Since those days, he has gone on to tour with Aaron Watson, open for Tanya Tucker and earn No. 1s on the Billboard Hot Singles Sales chart and Billboard Heatseekers South Central Album chart.
