Exclusive Premiere: Josh Ross Shares Emotional Story in ‘First Taste of Gone’

There is a place in Country music for all kinds of emotion – whether you are at a place in your life where you are just having a good time, or those good times led you to place where you are really feeling something deeper. There is no genre that helps you tell that roller coaster tale quite like Country music does. Country music at its core is about real life stories, and that’s what the song we’re here to bring you from Josh Ross is all about. It’s a story of lost love, filled with emotion and passion in his words. First, though, let’s tell you a little bit about Josh himself.

Josh currently calls Nashville home, but he made his way here from Burlington, Ontario. After making his mark playing college events, he moved to Music City at the end of 2019 to pursue his dream and refine his craft. Known for his energetic live performance and warm emotional vocals, Josh, as an independent artist, has opened at some of North America’s largest country festivals for acts like Jake Owen, High Valley and Luke Bryan.

No stranger to hard work, Josh’s music is already resonating with fans. He has over 7 million streams across streaming platforms, and we have a feeling this song might end up his most popular to date. His most recent single was one of those good timing songs (“Tall Boys”) so it is fitting to get another side of Josh on this latest release.

“First Taste of Gone,” that Ross penned with Mason Thornley, digs deep and you can hear that depth in his vocals. Explaining where the song came from, Josh told us: “First Taste of Gone is a honest song about how hard it can be to watch someone walk away from a relationship. It is my first true ballad and I feel [it] shows my listeners a different side of me emotionally and vocally.”

We have all been there. Lost love in any form can be extremely tough to deal with, but with a song like this you can find a way to start to find that closure and end to the pain.

Country music heals, and with “First Taste of Gone” you just might get a little reprieve from some pain you felt in your life.  I know I did.
