Corey Kent & Kolby Cooper Deliver A Summer Smash: ‘Ain’t My Day’

Corey Kent… that is all. Thanks to Corey Kent and Texas’s own Kolby Cooper, it looks like we all have a new drinking song. Penned by Kent, Grant Gilbert, and Jack Hummel, this pandemic-era zoom write can now be the anthem of our fresh and new summer of freedom. When I first listened to the song, what struck a chord with me were the vocals from both Kent and Cooper. In regards to featuring Cooper on the track, Kent says, “Kolby and I are playing a ton of shows together & it just hit me… it had to be a duet.” These are two very polished and unique sounds that come together to form an absolute smash of a song. In addition to the strong voices from these two, a stout kick drum beat and catchy guitar licks set this song up for what I think could be some substantial success.

Corey Kent has come a long way since his beginnings in Bixby, Oklahoma. The up-and-coming star got his big break when he teamed up with Blake Shelton as a contestant on season 8 of “The Voice.” After making it to the top 8, it was evident that Kent had something special brewing. With the recent release of his single, “What It Doesn’t Do,” I expect Kent to have a big Summer and a big finish to 2021.

Few young artists have captivated the Texas music scene as quickly and efficiently as Kolby Cooper has. He is fresh off the release of his latest single, “Excuses,” and released his highly anticipated Vol. 2 EP last August.

So grab a beer, find a boat, and have a day with this one.
