Trey Bonner Raised Rowdy Contributor and Videographer
Honest, catchy, and heartfelt – those are just a few words to describe the writing style of Alabama native Jasper Charles. Having been raised on his daddy’s Boston and his mama’s Bon Jovi, Charles found his love for music at an early age. In his early teen years he dabbled with writing hip-hop music (thanks to his and his sister’s rebellious taste in music on their car rides to school), but with a lifestyle of hunting, fishing, and riding down back-roads, the shift to writing country music became second nature to him.
After graduating high school, Charles made the move to Music City to pursue a degree in Music Business at Middle Tennessee State University. Staying on top of his writing and networking, Charles has been able to share the stage with other country acts such as Trea Landon, Tyler Reeve, and Tyler Braden, as well as landing slots in music festivals playing alongside Muscadine Bloodline and country’s hottest new act, Riley Green. Charles spent his senior year at MTSU interning at ole music publishing (Now Anthem) where he was able to learn the ins and outs of music publishing and artist branding, while also developing a better ear for hit songs.
His debut EP Some Songs I Wrote captures a time period from 2016-2019 when he was navigating life in Nashville. With his catchy lyrics and honest story telling, Some Songs I Wrote is an EP that should definitely be on your radar! I hope y’all enjoy this Raised Rowdy Exclusive Premiere of “Back To Her” from Jasper Charles’s newest EP that is out this Friday.
