As an artist with nothing to show for when it comes to having music on streaming platforms, releasing that first song for millions of people to have right at their fingertips can be nerve wracking. Florida native McCoy Moore has nothing to worry about with his debut single “Take Me Back.”
Moore made some of his first contacts in Nashville before he even considered it as a career. “I first went to Nashville in 2018 to see Luke Combs’s show at the Ryman. At the time, I was 16 years old and just writing songs. While in town, we stopped in Boot Barn and ran into Dan Hutson, a fellow songwriter. My Mom and I got to talking to him and she ended up showing him a video of me singing a song that I wrote and he told me to get up to Nashville and pursue this thing.” Hutson recently invited Moore to come back to Music City to play at his weekly writer’s round at The Dogwood in Midtown.
The song itself is very dense and features a storyline of a couple that is perfect together until the girl erratically leaves. “It’s about this guy and girl’s relationship where everything was great. Everyone thought that they were going to make it through the long haul and everything was going to work out. Then all of the sudden, she up and leaves. The guy reminisces and wishes he could reverse time so he could have another chance with her.” This is just Moore’s fourth song that he’s ever even wrote.
2020 will be a big year for McCoy Moore, who plans on moving to Nashville to surround himself with some of the most talented writers in the world. “I plan on playing a lot of rounds once I move to Nashville. My main thing is playing original music and meeting as many people as I can.” To stay up to date on all things surrounding McCoy Moore, visit him on Instagram @mccoymooremusic.
