You may recognize Chris Hamrick’s name as we featured him on Acoustic Wednesday last February while he was in a group called Hamrick and Haynes. He’s back in action with a new single called “Nobody Stoppin’ You” that debuted on streaming platforms January 17. The combination of the saccharine lyrics and the upbeat melody evokes the feeling of falling in love for the first time. Its arrangement brings out feelings of nostalgia, even on a first listen, which makes it feel immediately memorable. Of the single that Hamrick co-wrote with Alex Smith and Jason Afable, he says ”I knew when I heard the demo of the song we had something special.  It still makes me think of young love…a little retro…” According to him, the intended theme is “taking the risk and falling like you’ve never fallen before.”

We’re excited to premiere the accompanying music video exclusively on Raised Rowdy. The backdrop is a roller rink with neon lights and arcade games is the distance.”We had a blast shooting this video near my hometown in Georgia at a local skating rink.” It perfectly mimics the feel of the song. There is a young couple central to the video giving the viewer a lens to experience it all through. Meanwhile Chris and his band are set up in the center of the rink adding to the first love atmosphere with Battle of the Bands style undertones. The background actors were purposefully chosen. He says, “a lot of fans and friends showed for the filming and we just turned it into all-day concert style hang with popcorn and arcade games…” It’s easy to tell that everyone involved had a lot of fun making this video and the same carries over to the audience with this music video which Chris calls “the throwback skating rink date you never knew you needed”.
