Meet Canadian Cowboy Zach Neil

When one thinks of country music and the idea behind it, they associate it with America when it actually spans across many different countries across Europe, Australia and especially to whom we share our Northern border with, Canada. Artists like Shania Twain, Lindsay Ell and Brett Kissel call Canada their homeland and so does Zach Neil, who grew up on a farm in what Neil describes it as “the Midwest of Canada.” After moving to Nashville following high school graduation, Neil has been working to make it to the top and plans on continuing that climb with “When She Drinks Whiskey.”

Released back in early April, this track has gained lots of speed throughout the course of this year, surpassing 135,000 spins on Spotify alone. The upbeat tune has a fun beat with lyrics that speak of drinking preferences when everything is going right versus when they’re going wrong.

We are also in the middle of the holiday season which means one thing: Christmas music. Neil released a cover of “Holly Jolly Christmas,” which was originally made famous by Burl Ives back in the 1960’s. Neil’s version is perfect for country fans who are looking to build that country Christmas playlist to spin all winter long.

Whether you need a relatable song to help you get over a break up, or want to get in the holiday spirit, Zach Neil has what you need. 2020 will be another big year for him as he is already booking shows in Nashville and across the country, including at the “World Famous” Preble County Pork Festival in my hometown of Eaton, Ohio.
