After twelve years of living in Nashville, Caeland Garner, season 15 alum of the hit show, The Voice, penned a song in honor of his hometown, Coleridge, North Carolina. “Back Home” is a culmination of memories from Caeland’s earlier years; the farm, his friends and family, and his very first truck “Old Blue.”

Everyone has a place they associate with home; a feeling, a smell, or a vivid image that comes to mind when they think of that special place. Hearing the song for the first time immediately brought me to that place before the intro was even over. While the backstory of his “home” and my “home” are vastly different, I found myself driving the back roads of my hometown in my mind as I listened to his story play out.

The song is a powerful testament to people and places that mean the most to Caeland.

“My inspiration was to capture how much home means to me. Every time I go back to our family farm and I drive my old blue truck down that gravel road through that first set of cattle gates, all the stress that I am carrying completely melts away. My friends and family in Coleridge have been so supportive of me through the years and I wanted this to be a song for them!”

Working with the right team was crucial in the development and execution of the project. Caeland collaborated with Brad Clawson and producer Mark Bright to pen the song. There are many different reasons an artist chooses to work with a certain co-writer(s) when starting out, but to Caeland, the reason was as simple as relativity and chemistry.

“It’s been a long, tough 12 years chasing my dreams in Nashville and I wanted to capture how much my home means to me when times get tough. Through the years I have leaned on little things that ground me to my home even when I ain’t there, and we tied all those things into it. Mark and Brad are amazing writers and I feel like the three of us all clicked on the same emotion that day. We have all known the struggle in our own way of how hard it is to make it in the music industry.”

Caeland and his team have been working hard to build a foundation for all that is to come in 2020. In celebration, there will be a release party at The Local on November 6th, at 5:30 in Nashville. If you’re in town, head over to The Local and join Caeland and the band for a night of live music and be sure to follow him on Facebook and Instagram for new music announcements and tour schedule! Say hi and tell him Raised Rowdy sent you!
