With a boot-stomping sound and heartfelt lyrics that are relatable for any country fan, Austin Jenckes shows that he has what it takes to be the newest star in his newly released debut album, If You Grew Up Like I Did. By listening to this album, one can instantly hear the hard work and authenticity pour out of the lyrics. Jenckes realizes that music is meant to move people and ultimately heal them in ways that words can’t and this album serves that purpose in every song.
This nine-track album was released on May 31st and features a good mixture of hard, southern-rock sounding songs as well as gentle love songs. This project is a very personal career milestone for Jenckes in more way than one. Not only is it covered in personal life stories, but every song except for “Fat Kid” was either written or co-written by Jenckes.
This album is currently being showcased in the U.K., a place that Jenckes hasn’t played before! “I’m here in the U.K. this week doing promo for the new album after playing my first show in the U.K. and couldn’t be more excited to get these songs out into the world.” He will be in Nashville later this week at CMA Fest, joining the stage with our good buddies The Cadillac Three.
