From Broadway to the sacred stage at The Ryman, Nashville has a rich history of country music. That history also includes Belmont University and their music programs where singer-songwriter Ashley Cooke is making a name for herself. The college senior most recently won Belmont’s annual Country showcase, a very high honor at Belmont and beyond. Past winners include Florida Georgia Line, Chris Young, Kassi Ashton and Brad Paisley to name a few. While on stage, Cooke performed her newest single “Through This” a very personal song for Cooke.

The track was released on March 1st and already has over 5,000 spins on Spotify (As of March 28th 2019). “I co-wrote it with my friend Andrew Scholz, who is my producer as well. A lot of my songs come from a personal experience and it’s about something that happened in a past relationship. We wrote it back in October and it instantly came to life!” This track’s sound is poppy, with lyrics ingrained in traditional country.

When asked about the next step in her musical journey, Cooke is planning a year full of growth starting with  a lot of writing. “I love creating. I started writing when I was 11 and creating is one of my favorite things about being in the industry, so I plan on doing a lot of that over the next few months. I graduate college in May and I’m hoping to get on a small tour and get some experience and get my name out there. It’s all going to be a building phase.”

So give Ashley and her journey to the top a follow to keep up with her busy year ahead, fans can find her on Instagram (@theashleycooke) and on Twitter (@itsashley_cooke). “Through This” is available to stream or download wherever you get your music.
