Johnny Cash’s Kitchen and Saloon Coming to Downtown Nashville Cause Why The Hell Not!

Icon Entertainment’s Bill Miller announced that he will open a 15,000 square foot downtown food and beverage venue anchored by the legendary Johnny Cash brand.

 

Miller will soon reveal full details of the concept which is called Johnny Cash’s Kitchen and Saloon. Miller promises that the venue, located next to the Johnny Cash Museum, will be a unique and welcome addition to downtown Nashville.

Johnny and June Cash were known for their warmth, hospitality and authenticity to anyone who ever enjoyed a meal at their home. Surrounded by rugged, rough-hewn ceiling timbers, stone walls, slate floors and the finest European antiques, oriental rugs and priceless decorative artifacts, Johnny and June put everyone at ease when you sat down to experience one of their legendary food spreads. Whether it was ham and biscuits and sweet tea or a fancy multi-course dinner served on June’s elegant China and silver settings, you could count on the home-cooked food being just as authentic and satisfying as the hospitality itself. Johnny Cash’s Kitchen and Saloon will follow that tradition by providing great, fresh food representing the best of what authentic, unpretentious Southern food has to offer.

 

“In collaboration with another Nashville legend, the Swett’s family, we will serve traditional Southern Meat and Three fare (with a little Soul Food tossed in for good measure) prepared and served fresh every day on the premises,” Miller said.

 

David Swett, owner of Swett’s, has collaborated on the project having provided kitchen and menu design as well as recipes and employee training for the kitchen.

 

The new venue is anticipated to open in late Spring 2019.

 

Icon Entertainment was founded by celebrated entrepreneur and real estate investor Bill Miller. Johnny Cash is one of the most iconic and applauded voices in American music.  Selling more than 90 million records, Johnny, born J. R. Cash, has been inducted into the Country Music, Gospel Music and Rock and Roll Hall of Fames. Known worldwide as the “Man in Black,” Cash catapulted up the charts with hits like “I Walk The Line,” “Ring of Fire,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “One Piece at a Time,” “A Boy Named Sue,” “Orange Blossom Special,” etc. His success would lead to The Johnny Cash Show, a primetime network variety show on ABC, which welcomed acts such as James Taylor, Louis Armstrong, Bob Dylan, Linda Ronstadt, Kris Kristofferson and Neil Young. In addition to his award winning solo career, he recorded regularly with his wife June Carter Cash and saw commercial success as The Highwaymen, a country group featuring Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson. He continued to release records and receive Grammy wins into the early 2000s with his final recordings under Rick Rubin at American Recordings.  In 2002, “Hurt” introduced a whole new generation to his music when he released the music video and recording of the Nine Inch Nails tune. Throughout his career, he received the Kennedy Center Honors in 1996 and was awarded the National Medal of Arts in 2001. Cash passed away at the age of 71 in September 2003.  Two years after his death, his life was the subject of the biographical film “Walk The Line” that would garner Golden Globe and Academy Awards.
