It’s alright to “basic” sometimes? Dylan Marlowe thinks so.

Raise your hand if you feel personally victimized by Dylan Marlowe’s latest song.

Just kidding.

Dylan hits the nail on the head with his recent release, “Basic”, calling out all the tall mocha, triple shot, vanilla bean, pumpkin spice loving people in this light-hearted tune. “Basic” describes the average young adult girl who literally just can’t. From her sunset snapchat addiction to the two sizes too big tee shirt craze that has taken over college campus’s nationwide, Dylan captures it all. Growing up in Statesboro, Georgia, home to Georgia Southern University, Dylan has had a front row seat to all things “basic.” And as a girl who is a student at Georgia Southern, I can wholeheartedly attest to the accuracy of this song.

Dylan describes “Basic” as being one of those songs that he wrote in twenty-five minutes. The more he played the song at his live shows, the more people loved it. Seeing the crowd’s reaction, he decided that he should record it. And we are so glad that he did! Dylan moved to Nashville to pursue songwriting full-time in August. With cuts already under his belt from Noah Hicks and Brian Fuller, it won’t be long before Dylan is regarded as one of Nashville’s biggest up and comers.
