With September marking what would have been the 86th birthday of Patsy Cline, and with the 57th anniversary of her signature hit “Crazy” coming up next month, country duo The Young Fables chose to put their modern, yet traditional, twist on the iconic song.

When covering an artist and song as famed as Patsy Cline’s version of “Crazy,” you really better make sure you have the goods vocally and musically. I can’t say I was not worried before I took my first listen to this song. Those worries, however, were placed at ease as soon as the song hit my ears. One listen and I was hooked. I knew their version was nothing short of a home run. Laurel Wright’s voice fits this song perfectly and Wes Lunsford’s musical accompaniment gives it the right amount of modernness while keeping the song true to Patsy’s style.

Thinking back after my first listen The Young Fables seem fit to cut a track like this, as their full length album Old Songs sounds very traditional while still hitting home with modern audiences. There probably are not many duos or groups that I could think of that would do this song the justice it deserves so its refreshing to hear such a spot on version.  I think even the songwriter, Willie Nelson, will be pleased at their rendition.

So without further ado please take the time to watch and listen to this video. I couldn’t stop playing it on repeat and I am sure that you will not be able to either.

The Young Fables are currently on the road promoting their latest project Old SongsOld Songs, produced by Grammy award winning Mitch Dane, is a ten track project where all songs were either written or co-written by The Young Fables. It can be downloaded or streamed on iTunesSpotifyGoogle Play & Amazon.
