One moment he was just an average college student, grinding his way through classes and honing his craft on the baseball field, now Dalton Mauldin is a viral sensation, moving to Nashville and creating music for fans all over the country. It all started as just a hobby, posting videos to Vine before making the transition to Instagram and Twitter where he quickly gained over 60,000 followers on each. “I never thought all of this would happen but it did. As soon as one cover video started getting a lot of engagements and people were telling me how much they enjoyed them, the feeling was unbelievable.” he says.
After his renditions of songs became popular on social media, the Florida native decided to release music of his own with his debut single “Nights Without You.” The catchy tune is very modern country and could remind many fans of fellow country newcomer Seth Ennis. Mauldin says “Shoutout to my friends Chase Fouraker, Andrew Perlowich, Cole Taylor, and Paul DiGiovanni for helping me make this happen. It really is a dream come true. It is such a good feeling to have all the support from so many people streaming and listening to it.” Just by listening to his debut single, you can tell that this certainly won’t be the last single he will release.
Of course, his musical career has come with lots of hard work and sacrificing many hours to be where he is today and he credits a lot of his dedication to his baseball career. “Playing baseball has permanently put an ambitious mindset in my head with everything that I do,” he says. “My whole life has been all about baseball, so as that part of my life is coming to an end, seeing the opportunities that have been opening up with music gives me the drive to work that much harder towards it.” Mauldin spent this past summer in Wyoming, playing for the Casper Horseheads where he hit .326 with seven home runs and 30 runs batted in. He recently transferred to Nashville’s Trevecca Nazarene University to continue his baseball career while being closer to the mecca of country music.

Dalton Mauldin’s musical career may just be getting started, but he knows for a fact that his work ethic will always be there, giving him a great chance to succeed. When asked about what his plans were musically over the next few years, he says “I plan on writing and recording as much as possible. I definitely plan on releasing new music. As far as tours go, we’ll see what happens. If the opportunity comes I would love to do it. I just have to see what God has in store for me and keep working.” There’s no doubt that the ballplayer turned artist is talented and his debut single and his cover videos are further validation.
