Eric Church Blends Classic Rock With New Style Country Music in “Desperate Man”

After not releasing any new music in nearly three years, Eric Church brings a new energy and style of music in single and title track, “Desperate Man”. Church announced July 11, he would be releasing his first album since Mr. Misunderstood in early October.

The 41-year-old seasoned veteran in the country music industry proved he can still hang with the younger wave of country artists. Considering what he has done over his storied career, it’s no question singles like “Desperate Man” will gain him further validation when being considered a country music legend.

The single itself features a psychedelic edginess that only a Church song could possess. The intro features a 70s style beat with a guitar riff that gives off a Jimi Hendrix-vibe, making it a unique song fans will love.

The announcement of his newest project comes days after the news of the passing of his brother, Brandon. Church took the stage for the first time at one of Ohio’s most famed events of the year, Country Concert in Fort Loramie, Ohio (That was attended by some of Raised Rowdy’s own Derek and Nick). He honored his brother with a moving cover of “Amazing Grace” and “How ‘Bout You,” a song he co-wrote with Brandon.

There’s no doubt that music helps heal during times of distress, and Church’s new music will do just that in the coming months.
