Jordan Fletcher goes from playing cover songs in smoky bars to releasing his own killer original song “Cover Song”

Jordan Fletcher was driving to Auburn to open up for Muscadine Bloodline when he heard an ad about a contest for who could sing the best cover song. That’s when the idea for the brand new single “Cover Song” was conceived. Written with Gary Stanton, Jordan has been playing this live for a few months now and the crowds have taken a liking, dancing and joining in the chorus. When asked about the experience, Jordan shares “It’s pretty surreal to introduce a song to a crowd that no one’s ever heard before, and they start dancing to it and paying attention”.

It’s always entertaining to see Jordan perform live whether he is at a writers round like Revival 615 or opening for killer bands like Muscadine Bloodline. You can catch Jordan singing a few cover songs himself in his full set, like “Your Man” by Josh Thompson and “Heartache On The Dance Floor” by Jon Pardi.  This song kills and we know you will enjoy it as much as we do. Check it out on Spotify below.

Here are the full lyrics in case you want to do a cover song of “Cover Song”. (Cover Song Inception, we know, we just blew your mind)

Verse 1:

You and me, a perfect scene
Girl, I never thought that I would be
Broken as this old bar stool
Sippin’ to forget just to think of you

With the band in the back
At the end of the night
Got everybody singin’
to Sweet Caroline

But ain’t nothing sweet about you
And girl, I ain’t singin’ along

Chorus:
Shoulda known better than that
Thought it was right but I read it wrong
Didn’t think you would come back
And leave again just to lead me on
Wouldn’t have let you do it
If I thought it was going on
All along you knew it
You played me like a Cover Song

Verse 2:
We were gunna find us a place
A spot on a lot right outta town
We were gunna make a home
A porch swing hangin on a wrap around

With a black lab sitting
In the back of the Dodge
Ain’t no room
in a two car garage

We were gunna build a house
But someone else is gunna build it now

Chorus:
Shoulda known better than that
Thought it was right but I read it wrong
Didn’t think you would come back
And leave again just to lead me on

Wouldn’t have let you do it
If I thought it was going on
All along you knew it
You played me like a Cover Song

Interlude:

Chorus:
Shoulda known better than that
Thought it was right but I read it wrong
Didn’t think you would come back
And leave again just to lead me on

Wouldn’t have let you do it
If I thought it was going on
All along you knew it
You played me like a Cover Song
